About City Grind

Our Vision

We at City Grind love the big city and wanted to bring the eclectic and artistic feel of places like New York and Philadelphia a little closer to home. We would like to offer our patrons more than just the cookie cutter franchise coffee shop experience. Once you visit us we hope our service and ambiance brings you back time and time again.

Our Coffee

We use brew of 100% Arabica's blended and roasted to make your coffee experience rich but always smooth unlike many other coffees which taste bitter or burnt. Our espresso is roasted in a central Italian style that is sweet but strong, with caramel and dark chocolate notes that is sure to please any espresso or latte enthusiast. Our baristas receive extensive education at New York Barista Training courses in the theories of espresso preparation, milk texturing, and machine maintenance procedures.

Slide 1

We follow the 4 M’s:
The Italians, the originators of the art of espresso making, live by the 4 M’s to create the perfect shot of espresso.

  • La Macchina (The Machine) – Must be running at an optimal level and always kept very clean to ensure great taste and freshness.
  • La Micsela (The Blend) – Beans must be selected and roasted to produce a perfect balance of body, acidity, and aroma. They should always produce a thick caramel like top layer known as crema.
  • La Macinatura (The Grinding) – For the freshest espresso the barista must always grind the beans just before use. The grinds must always be the right size to ensure the espresso is made in the ideal brewing time for the best possible tasting shot.
  • La Mano (The Hand) – The hand ensures the previous 3 rules are executed. The hand of the barista also ensures the proper dose of espresso grinds are dispensed, and that the perfect tamp pressure and levels are performed.

Environmentally Responsible

We use coffee roasted by Counter Culture Coffee which are Direct Trade/Organic certified coffee beans. Organic Certified coffees are grown on farms where forests are protected, rivers, soils and wildlife conserved. The workers on these farms are treated with respect, paid decent wages, properly equipped and given access to education and medical care. Counter Culture direct trade pays higher for its green coffee than the Fair Trade Organization require, and believe in a 100% transparent philosophy. We are very proud of that!
